Start from the real size of the room
Draw the room and furnish it before a table for eight shows up in a room for six.

- Mark the doors and windows first, then place the table clear of them.
- No tape measure handy? Walk around the room with your iPhone, iPad or AR-ready Android phone to see it in 3D.
- Scan into a new design and view in 3D
- Furnish a scanned room: PRO
Dining room layout planner: start from how you eat
Pick the setup closest to your room, then fit it to your walls.

Formal dining room
A long table for six or eight, a sideboard along the wall and a chandelier centered over the table.

Small dining room
A round table for four that saves the corners, with slim chairs and a shelf on the wall instead of a buffet.

Breakfast nook
A bench along the wall or in a corner, a small table and a pendant light above it.

Open-plan dining
The table between the kitchen and the living room, with a rug and a light that mark the dining zone.
Leave room to pull out a chair
A table that fits the room can still block the path behind the chairs. Plan about 36 in (91 cm) from the table edge to the wall so someone can edge past a seated guest, and 44 in (112 cm) so they can walk past.

Select the table, a chair or the sideboard to see how far it is from the walls and other furniture, in 2D and 3D.
Clearances from the NKBA Kitchen Planning Guidelines (Guideline 8).

"I tested different layouts before buying anything"
"I was honestly terrified to start my renovation. I had no idea how everything would look together. With this app, I created my whole apartment in 3D and tested different layouts before buying anything. It saved me money, time, and so many mistakes. My renovation is finally done — and I love it."

Start with the people and the room around the chairs. The NKBA Kitchen Planning Guidelines allow 24 in (61 cm) of table width for each seated diner at a standard 30 in (76 cm) table, at least 36 in (91 cm) from the table edge to a wall so someone can edge past a seated guest, and 44 in (112 cm) so they can walk past. Draw your room, try tables of different shapes and sizes or a dining set for 2 to 8+ people, then select the table to see how far it is from the walls and the furniture around it. Try both. Save a copy of the design, place a round table in one and a rectangular one in the other, and compare them in 3D. Every table keeps its real size.
Place the rug and the table on the plan, pull a chair back from the table, and check in 3D that its back legs still sit on the rug.
Yes. The ceiling height is free to set on every plan. With PRO, type the exact length of every wall in feet and inches or in meters and centimeters, or read wall lengths from a supported laser meter on iPhone, iPad, Android or Mac. On the free plan, you draw the walls on a grid. Follow your device maker's safety instructions, and never point a laser at anyone's eyes.
